2009 Family News

JMC family members are invited to submit news of a birth, death, baptism or christening, graduation, honors, achievements/contributions, new job or promotion, wedding, engagement, retirement, relocation or other events or developments of interest to share with other members of our extended family. Send all relevant information, including name of family member to be recognized, name and date of the event or achievement, etc. to webmaster@jmcfamily.net. Digital or scanned photographs (jpgs) are also welcomed. Due to space considerations, text and photos may be edited.

4/29/09 James Harold Johnson, son of the late Bea and James Johnson, passed away April 22, 2009 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo at the age of 55. James Harold is survived by his brother, Frank M. Johnson. Wake and funeral services were held April 27 at C. Brown Funeral Home.

On April 23, 2009, one day after the death of James Harold Johnson, his uncle, Ernest Berry Jr., also left this earth. Ernest was 78 when he passed away at Toledo Hospital. He was a member of Braden United Methodist Church in Toledo and a supervisor 38 years for Doehler-Jarvis Company, retiring in 1989. He leaves to treasure his memory his wife, Geneva Berry; sons, Ernest III, Christopher, and Charles Berry; step daughter, Sunceray Lamb; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grand-children. Wake and funeral services were also held April 27 at C. Brown Funeral Home. He is interned at Forest Cemetery in Toledo.

4/5/09 Two American treasures, the National Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Motel and Stax Museum of American Soul Music, are the featured attractions during the 2009 Johnson Moody Crenshaw Family Reunion, scheduled July 23 through July 26 in Memphis, Tennessee. Go the JMC Family Web site's Reunion page for a full schedule, hotel information, registration form and more.

Effrem Goodman, chief organizer for the 2009 JMC Family Reunion, is strongly urging family members to indicate as soon as possible whether they plan to attend by submitting the completed registration form and making hotel reservations.

Roy Anthony Vaughn Jr., son of Levanda Goodman, won Mr. First Grade at the Holly Springs (Mississippi) Primary School for the 2008-2009 school term. Also, April Vaughn, daughter of Levanda Goodman, won Ms. Pre-K for the 2008-2009 school year as well. Alexandria, Roy, and April are all honors students. Lastly, Antwoine Vaughn became an addition to the family on Sept. 15, 2007.

Shelbi Salyce Whitfield, was born March 22, 2009 in Sierra Vista, Arizona. Shelbi, the daughter of JaDrian and Leroy Whitfield, was 6 pounds and 12 ounces. She is the youngest sibling of Sierra, 4, and Elijah, 1.
